Targeting Rules
B2B Desktop App
Trackbox is a marketing performance-enhancing platform that enables businesses to generate additional revenue. Trackbox allows users to scale and customize the platform to meet their unique business needs.
In 2022, Trackbox introduced a new brand for the iGaming industry. A business decision was made to align Trackbox's system with the new gaming industry design, adjusting existing features, improving infrastructure, and updating features to match the new technology.

Creating rules on the application is one of the important processes that the client performs.
It enables a recurring action that will limit/repeat several times within a specific condition.
The Trackbox system has changed and evolved over the years to become something continuous, connected from all directions, no matter where you are in the system. In the 'old' system, it was possible to create a rule from any page based on its topic (campaign, boxes and etc). One of the main problems was rule conflicts, which required an investigation process to figure out why things weren't working and what came first.
At first, we launched an educational process to inform users how to create the different rules using a single page, ‘Traffic Rules’.
There, the users can create and control their campaign behavior. All the relevant data will appear on a separate page.
This process simplified searching and rule editing for the users.
So, how did we start the redesign process to meet both our needs and the customer's needs with the new branding?
In the initial stage, we built a focus group and learned how they worked and created rule. Another conclusion, only 1% of the users noticed the alerts section at the bottom of the screen.

Long and Complicated flow
Creating a new rule was
overwhelming and included unnecessary steps.

Rigid process
Each option had a specific goal, and in order to change the goal, it was necessary to start over.

Rules & Alert in one screen
1% of the users noticed the alerts section in the bottom of the screen.
Simplify & Ease Solution

The goal was to MINIMIZE unnecessary steps,
thus making the process fast and easy.
The objective of this project was to optimize the process of creating and managing rules within a system.
Minimizing unnecessary steps, and ensuring that the process is intuitive, efficient, and simple.
Addressing these challenges and limitations would be key to improving the system and providing a more streamlined and effective user experience.

How did we know what needs to be improved?
We have built a focus group of 6-8 users, to find how they use the rule feature. After that, we have focused on the steps, and tried to find the weak spots and ways to improve them.
What did we find, and how have we improved it?
1. Focused Create flow
We figured out that users who create a specific rule already know what they want to do, so it was important to provide them with clear topics. Therefore, we organized the rules into 3 main subjects, with a simple and concise explanation to guide users through the process before they begin creating.
Additionally, we added a custom creation screen for users who want more flexibility and freedom in creating rules (this is an advanced feature).
Furthermore, in the focus group, we noticed that users were not using the ALERT creation feature, so we moved it to a separate screen.

2. Simple & Quick side bar form
We decided to create a new component in the system that allows quick creation without changing the work environment, also enabling comparison and fast creation.
A more complex creation process will have different structure within the system.
So...we created a single short, focused form divided into two parts.
The first part (purple block) is the mandatory section, where the system needs to know specific information for the rule to function properly (for example: name, working time, and entities).
This part is crucial for the next step in the process, as it allows the user to create additional rules that are related to the same fields.
The second part is where the user creates and builds the rule.
This section was open and accessible to the user based on what they chose at the start of the process.
In addition, to avoid creating multiple rules using the same building blocks, we allowed the user to add additional rules with the same shared filters created at an earlier stage.
For instance, creating a set of rules that will all apply starting from a certain date.
3. Table
Another change we implemented is that we prioritized the most important information for the user in the table, such as: working hours, if the rule is active or not, who it applies to, caps and so on.
This allows for quick scanning and easy comparison between the different rules.
